The Rev. Katie Cadigan is shepherding this sacred coworking community through its creation, iterations, and growth. In addition to her work with The Divine Office, she is the associate rector at St. Augustine by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Santa Monica, California. She holds an M.Div. from Yale Divinity School, with diplomas from Berkeley Divinity School at Yale andthe Yale Institute of Sacred Music.
Over 15 years ago, when Katie was a documentary film producer/director and running a small production company, she began dreaming of a Divine Office. She loved her church community and she loved her creative colleagues, yet she felt isolated when regularly working alone in her studio. She wondered, "What if there were a way to be sustained by both God and colleagues every single day?"
Katie’s professional roots were shaped by entrepreneurship. She began her career working in marketing and public relations with both Silicon Valley startups and high-tech heavyweights like Apple and Hewlett-Packard. In her first job, she was part of the public relations team that introduced the very first Macintosh computer.
After earning a M.A. in Communication from Stanford University in their Documentary Film Program, Katie launched her film career. Her leadership is informed by her extensive experience in making award-winning documentaries for PBS and HBO/Cinemax. Her documentary film work was made possible by generous grants from leading arts funders, including the National Endowment for the Arts and the California Council for the Humanities.
Katie also taught several film production courses at Stanford University. Teaching sparked in Katie a passion for cultivating young talent, something she now draws on for nurturing the spiritual lives of Divine Office members.
Ordained in 2014, Katie began bringing the Divine Office to life in early 2017.
